LEXTEK works with Cerner Corporation to create healthcare continuum


Cerner Corporation wanted to extend its healthcare offering to the consumer to create a continuum of care allowing patients to have a closer connection with their healthcare providers.  The consumer software would communicate with Cerner's existing software for hospitals and physicians.

Challenge: Cerner Corporation wanted to extend its healthcare offering to the consumer to create a continuum of care allowing patients to have a closer connection with their healthcare providers.  The consumer software would communicate with Cerner's existing software for hospitals and physicians.

Solution: LEXTEK designed and developed a PC and Internet-based consumer healthcare product for in-home use that creates a communication link between a patient and his/her physician.  Features included appointments, health record, treatment management and health assessments

  • Development goals were met, including a live product three months after the project began.
  • Developed architecture and detailed requirements specification for software
  • Managed contract development team to ensure timely delivery of product
  • Managed relationships with content vendors
  • Developed and deployed strategy for conversion of content into HTML
  • Created design for secure transfer of medical records over the Internet
  • Created Quality Assurance scripts and trained in-house staff regarding Quality Assurance procedures
  • Performed technology transfer to in-house staff for ongoing development and created project time line for continuing development
  • Designed internet-based survey tool for health assessment, including database storage and retrieval
  • Designed and deployed a PC-based tool for variable-routing decision tree (protocol) software for nurse call center
